ISPPAN Pays Familiarization Visit to Imo CP Ahead of World Photography Day 2026, Seeks Collaboration and Protection for Members

Ahead of the 2026 World Photography Day celebration, the Imo State Professional Photographers and Videographers Association of Nigeria (ISPPAN) paid a familiarization and courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, at the Command Headquarters in Owerri.
The delegation, led by the President of ISPPAN Imo State Chapter, Comrd. Onyeahialam Chibueze T., Chief Executive Officer of Lovers Multimedia, sought to strengthen institutional cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force, Imo State Command, and professional photographers and videographers operating across the state.
Strengthening Institutional Relationships

During the visit, Comrd. Onyeahialam formally invited the Commissioner of Police to the 2026 World Photography Day celebration, scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at GLO Ran Hotel, Port Harcourt Road, Owerri.
He explained that the annual celebration provides an opportunity to recognize the contributions of visual storytellers while acknowledging institutions and individuals whose efforts support peace, security and societal development.
The ISPPAN President emphasized the importance of recognizing professional photographers and videographers as stakeholders in public enlightenment, documentation and community engagement.
He appealed for greater inclusion of ISPPAN members in relevant police programs, public awareness initiatives and the documentation of activities within the state.
Addressing Challenges Facing Photographers and Videographers
Beyond the invitation, the association raised concerns about difficulties encountered by photographers and videographers in the course of their professional duties.
Comrd. Onyeahialam highlighted instances in which disagreements between photographers and clients, particularly concerning lost files, unsuccessful jobs or other contractual disputes, had reportedly resulted in police involvement and detention.
He appealed for proper investigation and appropriate handling of such complaints, stressing the importance of distinguishing civil or contractual disputes from matters involving alleged criminal conduct.
“Photographers are professionals and not criminals. We only need protection to do our job,” he stated.
The President reiterated that professional photographers and videographers deserve fair treatment, protection and recognition while carrying out legitimate assignments.
Commissioner of Police Responds

Responding to the delegation, CP Audu Garba Bosso expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the role of ISPPAN members in documentation, public awareness and crime-prevention efforts.
He encouraged members of the association to remain law-abiding and continue supporting initiatives that promote peace and security throughout Imo State.
The Commissioner also assured the delegation that the concerns raised would receive attention, expressing his commitment to improving the handling of such matters by officers of the Command.
A Commitment to Collaboration

The visit concluded with both parties expressing their willingness to strengthen cooperation, promote mutual understanding and encourage professionalism.
For ISPPAN, the engagement represents an important step toward building stronger institutional relationships and advocating for a safer, more supportive working environment for professional photographers and videographers in Imo State.
The association remains committed to promoting excellence, unity, professional development and the responsible use of visual media for societal advancement.
